I have been a woodcarver for 13 years, thanks to my wife of
32 years who gave me my first carving lesson as a gift, and I have not
stopped making "chips" since. Although this is a hobby, I have found
a niche that I truly enjoy. I have been a member of The
Artworks for two years. Most of my carvings are from my own patterns. I carve Santas of all different sizes and styles in the round, though I tend more towards the "old world" look. I also carve in cottonwood bark and create woodspirit faces, all of which have their own special look. In addition, I carve Gnome Homes in bark. These whimsical homes are unique, non-symmetrical houses that will make anybody smile. I also carve woodspirit faces in walking sticks.
For the past year I have tried my hand in making frames for pictures and
mirrors with white birch bark, twigs, cones, acorns and other forest bits
and pieces. |
