As a founding member of The Artworks,
I have sold my ‘oven creations’ through the cooperative since its
beginning in 1989.
Early examples of my work in the late
1970’s were hand-shaped out of bread dough, baked in an oven, details hand-painted on each item,
then coated with polyurethane to preserve and protect
them from moisture. The discovery of a new, more stable polymer
clay material allowed me to experiment with new techniques, different paints,
textures and other embellishments.
I find the process of creating
miniatures, ornaments, jewelry and other items very
relaxing and a refreshing change of pace from my fulltime job. Each
item is hand-crafted, unique, and one-of-a-kind.
