| About Me |
|
My artwork really does grow on trees.
I etch, wood burn and paint on Ganoderma Applanatum (Artist Conk or
Fungus). I also turn the delicate and beautiful Turkey Tail Fungus into
unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry.
I have always loved to draw and majored in art in high school. Since
moving to Old Forge I have taken many classes at the Arts Center/Old
Forge. I first saw an etched fungus at a friend's house, and since we had
a lot of fungi on our property, I decided to try to create one. That was
fifteen years ago, and it has since become my "hobby with benefits." Over the
years, through trial and error, I have developed various techniques for
working with the fungus to achieve desired effects. I especially enjoy
hiking the woods to find that next "special" fungus.
I have entered my work in the Central Adirondack Art Show at the Arts
Center in Old Forge where my entry was chosen to be in the Masters Exhibit
and subsequently was sold.
