I live in Forestport, NY, a small community in the
foothills of the Adirondacks. At some point, a canal was constructed
to connect the sawmills and tanning factories along the Black River to the
Erie Canal. My studio is in my home, a former General Store, located
near the original dam and pond where logs were accumulated for the
sawmills. My art background includes: Clinton High
School, Art major; Pratt Institute, Brooklyn - Interior Design; Rockwood-Mundt
Industrial Design - Designer; Syracuse University, Space and Facilities
Systems - Interior Designer; and free-lance commercial showroom design
under my own "Black River Designs". Along the way I've taken
numerous classes including Alternative Photography, Advanced Printmaking,
Bookmaking and Papermaking at Bennington College in Vermont, Contemporary
Artist Center in Massachusetts, and Munson-Williams Proctor School of Art
in Utica, NY.
I work mostly in watercolor, acrylics, and pastel, to
create landscapes, wildlife, portraits, and still life. I own an
etching press, on which I produce hand-pulled prints, cards, and
stationery. I also hand paint a line of pewter wildlife pins.
My latest endeavor is painting wildlife on turkey feathers!
I have exhibited and won awards in a number of
one-person, two-person, and juried shows around the region in Old Forge,
Lake Placid, Plattsburg, Cooperstown, Utica, Syracuse, Clinton, N. Adams,
MA, and New York City.
I also accept commissioned work in any of my media for
camps, homes, personal portraits, animals, and landscape scenes.
