I
am a retired oral and maxillofacial surgeon, having spent 30 years in
private practice and 15 years performing surgery on State prisoners from
11 prisons. I also retired from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank
of colonel after 20 years of service, including a call to active duty for
the first Iraq war. I play piano and accordion in nursing homes and
hospitals in my spare time.
My
interest in tinsmithing began in the 9th grade where I took a course in
"shop". I found then that I enjoyed the craft very much. About 50
years later, I began taking courses from a tinsmith in the Albany area. I
still return twice a year for further study. I have taken several courses
at the Munson, William Proctor Institute/Pratt Institute, Utica, NY, where
I learned basic jewelry making skills and how to work with copper. I have
now been working as a tinsmith for 10 years.
I make reproductions, my own designs, and private commissions.
In
addition to The Artworks, I also display at area craft shows
and have received several first prizes for my work.
